About Me:

Jessica founded Capital Casting Ottawa in February 2020 with a vision to meet the evolving demands of the Ottawa and surrounding areas, including locations like Kingston and Muskoka. Since its inception, Capital Casting Ottawa has demonstrated adaptability and resilience in catering to the diverse needs of the industry. Our portfolio boasts a spectrum of successful collaborations, facilitating background performers for esteemed productions such as Reacher, Mayor of Kingstown, Murdoch Mysteries (in Kingston and Muskoka), Chucky, and Royally Wrapped. Furthermore, we have been instrumental in casting lead actors for a horror film featured on a prominent YouTube channel. In addition to our contributions to film and television, we have actively engaged in sourcing actors and crowd performers for live, in-person training scenarios within the Ottawa community.

Jessica's trajectory in the film industry commenced at a tender age of 8, marked by her role as a figure skating extra in the movie The Cutting Edge. While initially recognized for her prowess on the ice, she soon cultivated a fervent passion for performance and film. Armed with a degree in Film Studies from Queen’s University, Jessica embarked on a journey to Toronto to pursue acting and a career in film. Since her full-time induction into the industry in 2006 as an ACTRA performer, Jessica has seamlessly transitioned through various roles, from minor appearances in shows like The Jon Dore Show and American Pie Beta House to undertaking stand-in work for productions including My Baby Sitters a Vampire and Mudpit. Her versatility extended to photo double and special skills work on esteemed shows such as Nikita, Flashpoint, and Warehouse 13. Notably, Jessica delved into the realm of stunt work, leaving her mark on TV shows like Single White Spenny and King. Complementing her on-camera endeavors, Jessica acquired invaluable experience as an on-set background casting assistant for productions like Bomb Girls and Saving Hope, working under the tutelage of esteemed casting directors.

In 2012, Jessica clinched a breakthrough role as Bertie on the television series Defiance, cementing her position as a principal recurring cast member across three seasons and 24 episodes. Her portrayal of various characters, adorned with full prosthetics, underscored her versatility and dedication to her craft. Off-camera, Jessica's intrigue in background casting burgeoned. Leveraging her network of emerging directors, cultivated during her stint as a stand-in, she ventured into background casting for ACTRA tip productions such as Miskate and S is for Bird in 2012. Following an enriching period in Shanghai, China, where she managed her daughter's acting and modeling career while mastering the intricacies of the Chinese language, Jessica returned to Canada with her family and discovered a new haven in Ottawa.
